What is the International Parts Locator?

Partspool.com is a system to allow Motor Dealers anywhere in the world to locate vital parts. In fact anyone can access the service free of charge to find a vital part. This could be a dealer trying to locate an obscure part for a VOR or an individual re-building a classic car.
The system is multi-manufacturer, simple to use and once found, the details of the location and identity of both the holder and the searcher are e-mailed immediately to both parties.
Partspool.com is merely an information provider, once the prospective buyer and seller have been identified all further contact is directly between the buyer and the seller. Partspool.com plays no further part in the transaction. As a result it does not hold any stocks of it’s own, it does not buy parts and does not get involved in the logistics of the delivery between the seller and the buyer.
A key factor in the design of the system was to help in finding buyers for those old and obsolete parts which most dealers still have in their inventory.
As a continuing service to the motor trade Partspool is continually improving the service. We are now able to offer a dedicated service to groups of dealers who wish to use the Partspool concept and web-based software to provide a centralised parts database within it’s own organization or to it’s clients. See the User Manual (Additional Services and Facilities) for details

Is the system available in languages other than English?

The current production version of the system is only available in English. We are currently working on versions in French, Spanish and Portuguese. These will be added to the system as soon as possible. At that time you will be able to select your preferred language from the home page.

How does the system work?

The system is designed to enable anyone to locate a vehicle part by simply entering the name of the Manufacturer and any additional information about the part. This can include all (or some) of both the Part Number and Description. If the part is in the database the system returns a list of all records for that part showing the quantity available, price (if provided by the dealer) and the City and Country of its location.

Select the part you are interested in by clicking on the "For Sale Reference Number" (Column 1). You will now be asked to Sign In to the system. Obviously until we know who you are we cannot e-mail you the full details of the location of the part. We also need to tell the Dealer who has the part that you are interested. If you have used the system before use your User Name (e-mail address) and password to log In. If you are a first time user you will need to register. Use the "New User" button. Once you have Signed In you will go automatically to a summary page which contains full details of the part, your details and those of the Dealer holding the part. At this point you have three options:

• Change your details if you so wish.
• Return to look for another part
• Generate an e-mail to both yourself and the Dealer holding the part, so that you can start the process of buying the part.

I am a Dealer and I want to get my parts stock on the system.

The first thing you need to do is to register as a Dealer on the system. To do this go back to the Home Page and click the "Sellers" button. On the "Dealer Sign In Page" click "New Dealer Registration". Once you have registered, and selected a subscription leve,l you will receive an e-mail explaining how to submit your parts to the system.

Due to the extensive variety of Dealer Management Systems (DMS) in use throughout the world, you will be asked to send your parts list directly to the Partspool Database as a "comma-separated" text file (.csv). If you are unable to transmit files in this format please contact us to discuss alternative methods. A minimal amount of information is required for each part and nearly all DMS provide for exporting data .Using this facility your parts will be immediately added to the database.

A comprehensive USER MANUAL is provided and can be viewed on-line.

How much does it cost to use the system?

For the User looking for a part the system is FREE.

For the Dealer, or any individual, wishing to add his parts stock to the system the normal charge is based on the number of parts maintained on the system. Dealers are encouraged to load their full parts list since this will promote the sales of both current "difficult to procure" parts and old "out of stock" parts. As it is not possible to establish a real-time link between a Dealer's stock inventory and the Partspool.com system, Dealers are also encouraged to re-load their stock on a regular basis.

The current PRICE LIST is available on-line.
